Arkos
Designs

Engineering and product design with in-house additive manufacturing, CNC plasma cutting and metal bending for functional prototypes and small batches.

What we do

Engineering and design

Our core service. Parametric CAD, tolerancing and design for manufacturing, taking a concept or a failing part to a validated design ready to prototype or release to production.

CAD, DFM, production-ready files

3D scanning

3D scanning captures as-built geometry of existing parts and assemblies for reverse engineering, fit verification and mating-part design.

Scan to mesh to CAD

3D printing

In-house FFF printing for functional prototypes and small batches. We select the filament for the thermal, chemical and mechanical load, from PLA up to carbon fiber nylon.

CNC plasma cutting

CNC plasma profiling of sheet and plate for prototypes and small batches: custom signs, brackets, panels, plates and other sheet metal parts, from our designs or yours.

Steel, stainless, aluminum sheet and plate

Metal bending

Forming of cut blanks into brackets, enclosures, frames and channels, so a prototype goes from flat pattern to finished part in one place.

Sheet and plate

Production with partners

When a design is ready for volume, we release production-ready files and coordinate with larger manufacturers for tooling and production.

Machining, high volume and more

Filaments we print

MaterialApprox. heat resistanceProperties and typical use
PLA50–60 °CRigid and dimensionally accurate. Fit checks, visual models and low-load parts. Brittle, and creeps under heat or sustained load.
TPU~70–80 °CFlexible elastomer (typically 95A). Gaskets, bumpers, seals and vibration dampers.
Durable TPU~70–90 °CFlexible grade with higher abrasion and fatigue resistance. Wear pads, hinges, grips and repeated flex parts.
PETG70–80 °CTough, with good chemical and moisture resistance. Enclosures, brackets and fluid-contact parts.
PETG-CF75–85 °CCarbon fiber filled for higher stiffness and a matte finish. Jigs, fixtures and rigid housings.
ABS95–105 °CImpact resistant and machinable or sandable. Functional housings and under-hood style parts.
ASA95–105 °CSimilar to ABS with UV and weather resistance. Outdoor enclosures, mounts and signage hardware.
PC110–130 °CHigh strength and impact resistance at elevated temperature. Structural and heat-exposed parts.
PA12 (Nylon 12)100–140 °CLow moisture uptake, tough and wear resistant. Gears, clips, living hinges and bushings.
PA6 (Nylon 6)120–170 °CHigh toughness and fatigue strength. Absorbs moisture, so dry storage and conditioning matter.
PA12-CF140–170 °CCarbon fiber filled nylon 12. Stiff, dimensionally stable, low warp. Structural prototypes and end-use tooling.
PA6-CF160–200 °CCarbon fiber filled nylon 6. Highest heat resistance and stiffness we print. Load-bearing, high-temperature parts.

Heat resistance is the approximate heat deflection range at light load. It varies by brand, grade and print settings, and creep limits continuous use well below these figures. Tell us your operating temperature and load and we will confirm the right material.

How it works

  1. Send your ideaA sketch, a drawing or a CAD file all work.
  2. We design itCAD, tolerancing and design for manufacturing, with scans of existing parts when needed.
  3. We prototype itPrinted, or cut and bent in-house, so the design is tested as a real part.
  4. We make itSmall batches in-house, or released to a larger manufacturer for volume.

Design first, then make it

Arkos Designs is an engineering and design studio. Our main work is the design itself, backed by in-house FFF printing in engineering-grade filaments, CNC plasma cutting and metal bending for functional prototypes and small batches.

3D scanning helps us design around real parts, and when you need more volume we work with larger manufacturers.

Good fits

  • New product ideas that need engineering
  • Prototypes and test parts
  • Replacement or upgraded parts, scanned and redesigned
  • Custom metal signs and decorative cutouts
  • Brackets, enclosures and other sheet metal parts
  • Small batches, or a path to larger production
